Ownership Summary:
For sale is a used, unrestored Heywood-Wakefield bed frame for a twin sized mattress (US-specification). This bed frame is made of wood and steel and has spent its entire life in a residential home. The bed fame is in the mid-century modern (MCM) style of design and was purchased new by its single, original owner in the mid 1960s or early 1970s in New Providence, NJ. The bed frame has always been kept in a pet-free and smoke-free home.
I am the second owner of this bed frame and am selling it as part of the original owner’s estate. Sadly the original owner’s children do not have use for this bed fame and instead are offering it for sale to the public for a buyer that can best use and appreciate this furniture.
Condition and Size:
The bed frame is in excellent condition and has only a few small surface blemishes. The bed frame is unrestored and is in original condition. There are no meaningful or structural cracks, gouges, or divots in the wood. To be clear, the bed frame is not showroom perfect, but it otherwise is in excellent condition given its 50+ year age.
The bed frame is approximately 78 inches long (when fully assembled), 45 inches wide (headboard and footboard), and 20 inches high (at its highest point when assembled it is 40 inches high, the footboard is 20 inches high). The bed fame is an original Heywood-Wakefield piece that was purchased new and has been carefully used for its entire life, which includes limited “movement” between houses and rooms. The bed frame stood in a child’s bedroom for its entire life. The bed frame can hold a standard US-specification twin sized mattress. The mattress is supported by the metal frame.

I cannot arrange for the shipping of this furniture and I am unskilled to properly package and protect this furniture if it is being shipped. If shipping is necessary for the buyer, the buyer will be responsible for absolutely all costs, packaging, wrapping, scheduling, and shipping precautions in connection with shipping this furniture; I will have zero responsibilities besides meeting the shipper and transferring possession to the driver. I recommend a local pickup of this furniture.
