Custom Ron Seff Asian Inspired Dresser Handpainted + Original Concept Drawings
One-of-a-kind, custom-made high end nine drawer dresser by Ron Seff of New York. A finely mottled olive-brown ground, hand painted with Asian-inspired floral and bird motifs. The case has curved ends and and a rounded edge to the top all around. The drawers sit on a base that rolls under itself, and gives it a floating appearance. The top and ends are painted as well, and it is finished with a gloss lacquer. Made during the late 1970's. Extremely high end. A wonderful early piece by Ron Seff. Most single pieces retail in the $15,000 to
20,000 range.
The drawers run on metal tracks, and are easily removable. The drawer box is dovetailed on all four corners and is painted a dark glossy brown. There are acrylic dividers in several of the drawers, and these can be removed if desired. Brushed silver and brass pulls are all original. The piece comes with the original drawings from the designer (RES), which show not only the configuration of the piece itself, but the motifs and placement for all of the custom paintwork. They are dated 1978.
In excellent vintage condition. Structurally without issue. The drawers open and close smoothly. There are some dings and scuffs, most notably the shallow ding on the front edge (please see photos). There are some minor "vacuum cleaner" marks along the skirt, and some scuffs to the lacquer on the top. I believe most of this can be easily touched up and buffed out if desired.
