This is a vintage Betel Box with two interior trays and a small interior box
with lid (2” by 2”) that I bought from a well recognized antique dealer in
Rangoon (Yangon) in 2002. The lid designs are typical of the geometric
designs produced by Shan artisans. There are four lids in total (including
the lid of the small box). Each lid has the same finely detailed geometric
design. The two interior lids (or trays) held "the various items necessary to
make quids of betel (for chewing).
Measurements: Overall when the boxes are stacked within the large box. 3 ½”
inches high,3 5/8 inches in diameter
Condition: Good vintage condition with a noticeable ding on the base of the
largest box. The small interior box is in fair condition. Please look carefully
at the pictures which are incorporated into the condition description by
reference.
