We are pleased to offer for your consideration absolutely gorgeous Antique KALAGA Burmese High Relief Padded Embroidered  Mythological Ramayana Dancing Scene with Figures & Parrots Large Tapestry  from the Mandalay region of Myanmar (Burma) A magnificent very finely completely hand made Kalaga tapestry set in a custom gilded frame (framed by previous owner in Design Framing Gallery, Oakland, CA).  This large Kalaga Burmese high relief padded and textured tapestry features heavily embroidered appliqués and intricate Burmese threading ~ central medallion depicting elaborate  mythological scene from the epic Ramayana or Jataka saga with two dancing figures, surrounded with four parrots on a heavily completely embroidered background, using a combination of brocade metallic and plain threads and adorned with the rich intricate couching thread work shimmers with hundreds of tiny sequins, metal & glass beads, and glass 'stones'.  Each detail in this tapestry is elaborately designed and stuffed for a three-dimensional effect. The entire piece is sparkling and looking very rich and extremely impressive! These masterpieces take months of hand-stitched embroidering to complete.  Dated definitely back to the early 1900s to 1940s-1950s, probably earlier... It is very fine collector's piece, and would make a welcome addition to any collection of Kalagas or Burmese art. Measurements very approximately: Framed: 28 3/4" x 33 3/4" Tapestry inside of frame: 24 1/2" x 29 3/8" HEAVY Weight: about 8.5 lbs unwrapped and unboxed. Condition report: as pictured, no tears, no holes, no repairs, no missing stitches to embroidery. It shows some minimal wear and some soiling consistent with it's age, probably some glass 'stones' are missing what we didn't detect., The frame is in very good condition.
