This is a carved wood pieces from Burma as pictured. It shows a man who might
be dancing or is perhaps just holding a walking stick or other kind of
instrument in a position of command or ease. My picture really leaves it to
the buyer to decide. I don't know much about the item but know it came from
Myanmar (Burma) 20-some years ago. I assume it is somewhat old but don't have
any information about date, place of origin or anything further beyond the fact
it was purchased from an individual in rural Burma in the late 1990s or
thereabouts.
The SIZE of the piece is approximately 7" by 7" inches or thereabouts. It is
painted and generally in very good condition --- used and with wear, but not
overly chipped, or broken or otherwise damaged in any material way. I don't
know the particular use or background but believe it may have been an insert in
an interior wall of a structure, perhaps a temple or something like that. In
any event, it's attractive, interesting and not commonly available.
